Sorry for the lack of updates, but everyone has been incredibly busy lately. The reason for this update is to inform you of a programming contest being held on Alex's Site. No prior experience is necessary, and this month's challenge should be a good way to get your feet wet if you've never programmed before. A Tutorial, written by yours truely, is provided. Did I mention there were cash prizes? Do yourself a favor and get working!
Posted by: Mike, 11/20/03 7:40pmSchool has pretty much kicked in full swing, so that during this, the year from hell, updates will be few and far between on the site. We are not abandoning the game at all, but major updates probably won't continue until next summer. This update is all about the layout (chances are, you've already noticed the sexy new sidebar), as well as a VERY cool update to the meet the team page. Now, you can see the people behind the game, and find out what we're doing 24/7 on the new webcam (haha, NOT). Anyway, I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving, Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza/other, and New Years, as this will most likely be it for 2003. See you next year!
Posted by: Alex, 9/27/03 8:00pmAs I'm sure many of the followers of this site are probably thinking we've abandoned the game project, we have not. It is slow in coming but hopefully we will have a release sometime this winter or next spring along with maybe a demo by Thanksgiving. The only addition in this update is: Matt Craig as the new music/sound director. Again, please don't give up all hope on us as we are not dead but just really busy, everyday people.
Posted by: Mike, 9/4/03 5:00pmIt's been a while...but here's what you've all been wanting, an update (there you go, TJ). We've added a TON of new tiles, so you might want to check out the Game features page. Another update should be coming soon to organize the site and make it look better, but until then, enjoy the new stuff just added. Oh, be sure to check out the Meet the team page as well. Who knows, by the next update, we might have a dowloadable playable demo.
Game update-9/4/03The new locations are looking good. Check them out below. By the next major update, the place-holder circle will be gone, and the newly added menu at the bottom of the screen will be improved.
Some nicer light forests with the cool new water tile nearby
It's hot in the desert...
Better cool off in these remote mountains
Well, this is the beginning of our little page, which in the months to come will follow the progress of the team's as of yet unnamed Adventure/RPG game, which will be programmed entirely in Qbasic. Up until this point, the team consists of only two members, being Alex Shaffer and myself. If you are interested in any way with helping out with this game, or have suggestions, don't hesitate to send an e-mail to either of us. We thank you for your interest in our game, and we'll keep you updated as any new elements are added.
Game update-7/22/03As of yet, we have completed the basic engine which the game will use. We have working grass, forest, water, sand, and mountain tiles, and are currently working on more landscapes and objects. We are still using a place holder circle for the player, but soon we will have several character graphics completed, including the character and NPCs. You would probably get a better feel for how the game is coming by looking at the screenshots below.
Here you see a mountain range...
A sandy beach here...
And finally, a dense forest to top it off.
